I am no web designer or computer tech geek. A design friend of mine referred me to DotNetNuke saying it was the easiest way to design my website.  I want to believe him, but I can't seem to get it to work.  I have downloaded all of the files and my computer can't read the .vsi file type.  So, I opened up the manual that came with the download.  It said I need a VS2005 program before I install DotNetNuke and run the starter kit.  So, I uninstalled DotNetNuke and went to download the VS program from Microsoft.  In order to do that, I had to download IIS and do a whole bunch of configurations.  Then I finally get the Virtual Server downloaded and went back to DotNetNuke.  I downloaded the starter pack and it is still an unrecognizable file.  I am so lost now... did I need all of this or is there a way to just download DotNetNuke to my computer and get it to work?

You will need a Windows Server with IIS, and you'll need Microsoft SQL Server.

Download the INSTALL package from DotNetNuke.

Scoot over to mitchelsellers.com and look in his blog for installation instructions.  They are among the best that you will find.  Follow them!  <g>
