I am working for a corporate client and have limited options regarding changing the hosting environment.

I need to setup DNN sites that will be accessed exclusively over https, but SSL unloading is handled at the load balancer meaning the DNN applications will only ever receive unencrypted requests (requests made to https://mysite will arrive as http://mysite).

I need to configure DNN for SSL (so it renders links as https etc), but if I enforce ‘Secure’ the application becomes inaccessible as DNN - only ever receiving unencrypted requests - redirects back on itself over https, thus entering a loop

Any suggestions for a work around?

Many thanks

5 years later and no answer... and yet the #1 hit on Google...

Don't get your hopes up yet.

For those of you who happen upon this post (hopefully before 2019) I'm about an hour into my inquiry of the same issue - so far it appears the solution was made available in the $$ 6.2 version of DNN

I'm looking for a "community" solution - should I find one, I'll repost/follow up here.

We added support for SSL-offloading in the 6.2.0 release - it was added at the platform level, but as ssl-offloading is typically something that larger installations do only a UI to manage it was added in Evoq. This is consistent with the idea of adding "enterprise" features into the paid editions to encourage those with large budgets to purchase Evoq -which then allows us to pay the staff that work on the free platform edition.

this is a small project for a big company - so ... so in theory, I can make modifications outside the DNN core to handle the SSL offloading. Any chance you can point me in that direction?

Does it help that I've been a DNN implementer/user/supporter since version... 2 (I think... it's been 10 years)

I'd love to give you a step-by-step but I don't think our sales people would appreciate that. I suggest you download a source release (e.g. http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/downlo...), and search for "ssloffload" and you should see what you need to do as the only thing missing in the platform is the UI that sets the value in the hostsettings table....
