Hi all,

I am following instructions in DNN for dummies book (Personalizing with User Account) but I cannot help finding the User Accounts module in DNN5 nor in this site.

I'd like to define various registration pages for different user types identified and I thought that module + users and roles was the way to go.

Any help is appreciated.

Tnx
Javier.

I have the same problem and the same question: What happened to the User Account module in DNN 5?

This module was available in DNN 4 and is clearly described in Table 4-5 Page Management Settings on pages 109-110 of the book "Professional DotNetNuke 4".

However, in the corresponding Table 4-4 Page Management Settings on page 117 of the new book "Professional DotNetNuke 5", there is NO longer any mention of the User Account module.

So it seems to have disappeared from both the software and the book. Now the question becomes: what is the intended replacement for the User Account module to be used with the "User Page" that is set under Page Management on a portal???

Availability of the Account Login module for the Login Page, and the User Account module for the User Page, is presumably necessary for any secure customised variations of theses pages. Could a Core Team member please weigh in here and offer explanation and recommendation please?

Any comments or pointers on this?

I wonder whether we are the only people who are missing where the replacement for this functionality is.

Thanks,

Javier.

Put the Users and roles module on a page, you'll get three definitions, one of them is the user accounts module

Yes it works but seems somewhat awkward to add three then delete two just to get a "user account" module for an ordinary user on a non-administrative user page. It also seems that putting both administrative and non-administrative functionality together like that might be more susceptible to develop some kind of problems..... either in learnability, useability, functionality, security or something. Personally, I prefer a cleaner separation of concerns.
