I upgraded my site from version 4.91 to 5.0 without any problems. Now I can not make update the settings on the Host Settings page, when I click the update button the page does not respond. I also can not set the page to settings to XHTML as the update button will not work. Can someone please help...

I know I've seen this issue, and experienced it myself.... but I'll be damned if I can't remember...

I think it's a problem with Ajax and javascript, you might have to disable Ajax in the HOST Settings table in order to get this fixed? I will try to dig up an old thread where I came across this.

I could be totally off base though, I just can't quite remember the cause/sollution for this

Thanks Chris, for you quick response. I did run an update query on the TABLE dbo.HostSettings

UPDATE dbo.HostSettings
   SET SettingValue = 'N'
 WHERE SettingName = 'EnableAJAX'

The update did go ahead as designed, however when I try the access my site I get an error message. I tried to set the database table back to Y and still the page error is not changing. It is unfortunate that now I can not open the web page. http://webdev.westmidlands.nhs.uk/

Please help...

The web page failer was a problem with my host company which changed the connection to the database server, this has since been resolved.

I still can not update any changes made on the Host Settings page. I would apprreciate it if you could point me in the right direction as I can not set my site to XHTML DOC type as I can not update the changes on the page.

When I installed DNN 5, I had  a similar same problem with host setting updates. Mine was caused by a validation error on the default admin email address in the host settings. When I changed it to a valid address it worked. It never occurred to me check elsewhere in the settings for validation errors when I was trying to set the Friendly URLs. Good luck!
