Hi all,

i have upgraded my test site from dnn 4.05 to 4.09.1 version. Also upgrade my Respository module from 3.03.13 to 3.03.15.

In upgraded repository module i m facing a problem that  to save any file in repository module , when we go to module settings and there we have to set path of file saving. What should be the path abosolute/relative path.I have located my application/site in different location which is previously in different location.

if we specify absolute path then it is creating/saving uploaded files in previous location if specified location is mathed. But i want to save my file according to my application relative path location. Please specify if anyone know what should be the correct approach to mention file save path.

thanks in advance.

you must specify the absolute path to the location where you want to store your files. This was done to allow you to store your files outside of the web site folder for security purposes. This is a holdover feature which was implemented before the core provided secure storage options for your files. So, figure out where you want the files stored and enter the full server path to that location,

eg: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\portals\0\repository

NOTE: Beginning with 3.01.15, you also have the option to replace your FILE and IMAGE tokens with URLCONTROLFILE and URLCONTROLIMAGE respectively which will use the core URL control. Using these new tokens will ignore the path setting in the module settings and store the files wherever you indicate via the URL-style controls. This allows you to store files in multiple locations (ie: all files do not need to be stored in the same folder) as well as providing secure storage using the core solution.

hi steve,

Thanks for reply.I understood what you said. But Please specify about new tokens , how can we use them to rectify my problem. If i mention absolute path to file save then i have to go to each instance and manually change the path. Is there any technique by which we can assure that all instance will take the global path for all repository module instances. Then next time , when i upgrade/change my site location on server then i have no need to change the path manually. It was set as according to my website virtual path.

Thanks for your suggesstion.
