Hi there;

 I have just downloaded the latest 4.9 release and try to install it. I followed the instructions in the pdf, but the install fails with the message:

I have checked the web.config file for the dsn settings and can't find anything wrong, here is my connectionstring:

    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=bts03\SQLExpress;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

I would appreciate any help I can get

Thanks

Thomas

please make sure you updated BOTH of the connection strings in the web.config (alternatively,select "custom" when installing and the installer will allow you to specify the values, test the connection and update the web.config on your behalf)

Thanks for the reply. I don't even get to a page where I can select custom. I try to install it using this url:

http://localhost/dotnetnuke/Install/Install.aspx?mode=Install

I have also tried a different connection string: Data Source=bts03\SQLExpress;Initial Catalog=dotnetnuke;user id=xxxpassword=xxx;

and it doesn't make any difference. I don't think the connection string is a problem. When I try to run the default.aspx in the root folder it tells me:

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.] indicated to me that it actually can connect to the database.

Regards

Thomas

double check you have a web.config file -if you do,open it up in an editor such as visual web developer express, as it seems the xml in the web.config file is invalid

Thanks, although I was able to view the config file correctly in VS, something must have been wrong. I copied the original one again edited the connection string and I was now able to install.

Just out of curiosity the install happened automatically how can you get the dialog to choose custom install?

Thanks again

Thomas
