Okay the sections from your web.config look okay.

I was confused when you said external resources. I thought maybe you'd found a way to store items outside of your DNN install. I just checked our server here to verify and I've got IIS usering anonymouse and Integrated Windows authentication throughout the site and only Integrated Windows Authentication on WindowsSignin.aspx.

At this point I'm at a loss as to why this is happening to you.

I'm at a loss as well ... but this problem is preventing me from moving forward with DNN for a project, and it makes granting access to various people for evaluation a big problem, because they must be administrators of the web server in order to even be able to view the DNN site.

Is there anything you can think, however unlikely and farfetched, that I can check or change to troubleshoot or fix this?  Could it have anything to do with the Virtual Directory in IIS - where all is it referenced?  If I wanted to do a fresh install under a new Virtual Directory, how can I migrate all my portals/modules/data?

Russell, if you take the AD provider out of the equation and just test with standard DNN users do you run into the problem still?
