Any help is greatly appreciated.  I'm using DNN 4.7 with AD integration, and 98% of the time, this works great.  Everyone gets logged in automatically, and stays logged in.

However, I have a handful of users, the same ones, who periodically get logged out, and have to keep logging back in.  It's the same 5 - 10 users all the time.  This presents 2 problems:  1) they get logged out and I don't know why this is happening, or what to tell them and 2) when they try to log back in, the AD password that is stored in DNN for them is always an old password.

We require all users to change their AD password every 90 days, and when they have to finally have their password emailed back to them, its always the AD password from 2 or 3 password changes ago.

Is there a way to "syncronize" the AD password with DNN, so that if they do need to log back in, it's their current password?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

First of all, DNN is not supposed to store any passwords, so the password they are having them e-mailed back to them "should" be the one used when the account was first created in DNN.  But, then again, I don't remember the exact details of how that was working in the 4.7 version.  In any case, don't rely upon the password that is e-mailed to a user, it is not used in the authentication module.

Second, if it is the same users over and over again, check their computers to see if there is anything out of the ordinary installed on those computers that might be causing problems like that.  Spyware and Malware programs are notorious for doing things like that.

Third, it might benefit you to figure out whether it is a DNN problem or a workstation problem, so you can narrow down your direction in trouble-shooting.  The simplest way is to have those users log into a computer that you "know" is working good and see if they get logged out there also.   That will tell you whether you should be looking at DNN or the computer for answers.

What version of the AD provider are you using? When a user logs in manually with versions of the provider below 01.00.05 the password is automatically updated in DNN with their current password. If they log in automatically then the password is not changed as there's no way to pull the user's password on automatic login. Your users shouldn't be using the password reminder in DotNetNuke to get their AD passwords.

With the 01.00.05 version of the provider the password stored in DNN will be randomized.

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions.  The problem is that it is seemingly totally random.  They will be logged in fine for weeks, then suddenly they will get logged out.  Giving them another PC is not really an option in this case.  And we are pretty tightly controlled with corporate virus/spyware, but that is a good suggestion, I will double-check these machines to make sure there's nothing infecting them.

I didn't know that about the passwords.  How do check to see what version of AD authentication I'm using?  I don't see a version in my web.config, and my site just says:

ActiveDirectory DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/Settings.ascx DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/Login.ascx

Thanks again for everyone's help, I really appreciate it!

Under DNN 4 you have to go into the Bin\Providers directory and look at the actual properties for the provider dll.
