ZoneAlarm has been a pain in the butt hole for quite some time. If you run ASP.NET sites on your local machine you have to globally disable the privacy options (cookie control and ad blocking). Repeated attempts to get ZA to fix this fell on deaf ears, they would not even admit the problem in public.

Well no more after all these years:

STEPS:

* Update to version 8.0.298.000 (or later), make sure you clear existing settings when you upgrade.

* In "Program control" give ASPNET_WP.EXE super trust level permissions, and allow everything.

* Each new portal you create on your local machine, add the host name in the privacy settings, right click / Options and untick all values everywhere.

Hope this helps ZA users. Often people post here they "can't log in" after a new installation, well if they use ZoneAlarm you can point them to this post.
