I have followed all the steps on the instuctions. I have created the Virtual Directory and also created the Database, its log in and provided access to the Network service account for the C:\DNN folder i created.

When I navigate to the Virtual directory all I get is page below.  ( I get same results using  http://localhost/DotNetNuke/Install/Install.aspx?mode%20=Install    as well)

Any one got any ideas?   I am using XP Pro 64-Bit  and have Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition Installed.  The database exists and the user i created is registered as the owner of the DNN database.

Any Help would be appreciated, as this is my first time trying to install DNN and the current project I am working on has to be done with DNN and I am stumped.

Thanks,

Luke

Yes, I added default.aspx  to the default doc list,  and moved it to top.   ( same error when i directly access any page in the Website dirrectory )

and Only .Net 2.0 is installed.   Does it need 3.0 and 3.5 as well?

Okay,  I have uninstalled every thing and redownloaded new ZIp files and started over.  I have configurd the veritual directory,  I even moved files to wwwRoot.  I am not getting any where.

I updated the release.config  saved as Web.config.  I updated the vlaues for SQL server.  From the instructions I saw that no other values should be changed.  Is this correct?   I tested this conn string so i know its good.    I am not sure if any of this is cause from running the installer script for the templates.  If it is I can't find an easy way to undo any actions it did ( i mean if it just added templates they could be deleted easily enough).   But the other thing is I do not see The 'DotNetNuke Web Application project'  I do see however a DotNetNuke Compiled modual,  which is not the type of project I want to be working with.    I have tried usin,g the Install.zip folder and creating a Virtual directory from it, and also the source.zip folders.   Both produce the same results as listed above the 404 error, where the reasource can not be found.

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=REMONSTER\SQL_SERVER;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=DNN;pwd=password;"/>

I am lost at the next steps to follow, the documentation for this seems to be missing a few piecs.  As I followed it to a Tee multiple times now and I keep reproducing the same nonfunctional results.  Is there a pre requiset to installing DNN?  do I have to install all previous version of DNN?  or is just 4.09  okay?   Do i need each version of the .Net framwork?  or is just 2.0  okay?

Please any help would be greatly appreciated as the project I am working on is now falling rappidly behind schdual, and thats not good.

Thanks for the help,

Luke Shields

I had the same problem and found that I had forgotten to enable ASP.NET 2.0 Web Service Extension.

In case you are not sure how to do this....

Open IIS Manager and expand Web Service Extensions.  Then select  ASP.NET v2.0. and Click the Allow Button.

Note: If the status is already set to Allowed then this is not your issue.

Hope this helps.
