Hi

From the Hosts menu in DNN 5 there is an "Upgrade Framework" link. I clicked it and since then many 3rd party modules don't want to work anymore. There seems to be IIS 7 compatibility issues when hitting that upgrade framework button and 3rd party modules such us URL Master from Ifinity and Venexus search.

Can you somehow "revert" the upgrade or are you stuck in the dumps once you have hit that button?

Wow, I am amazed that no one else have had this problem.

Doesn anyone now how to revert the upgrade?

The button simply modifies  a few entriesweb.config to adopt to .Net 3,5, this does not affect IIS 7 compatibility.

compare your web.config with release.config, if you encounter issues and contact the module developers.

Which version of DNN5 were you running when you clicked the 'Upgrade Framework" button? If you were on 5.0.0 then a bug existed which broke your web.config. This was fixed in 5.0.1 and you shouldn't need to check the info below.

If you want to check for the bug, load up your web.config in your favorite editor of choice and locate the follow section...

</system.web>
  <runtime>
    <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
      <probing privatePath="bin;bin\HttpModules;bin\Providers;bin\Modules;bin\Support;" />
      <dependentAssembly xmlns="">
        <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" />
        <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0" />
      </dependentAssembly>
      <dependentAssembly xmlns="">
        <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions.Design" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" />
        <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0" />
      </dependentAssembly>
    </assemblyBinding>
  </runtime>

If you have the xmlns="" in your web.config, add the correct text inside the empty quotes... xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1", which should result in something like this...

</system.web>
  <runtime>
    <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
      <probing privatePath="bin;bin\HttpModules;bin\Providers;bin\Modules;bin\Support;" />
      <dependentAssembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
        <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" />
        <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0" />
      </dependentAssembly>
      <dependentAssembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
        <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Extensions.Design" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" />
        <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="3.5.0.0" />
      </dependentAssembly>
    </assemblyBinding>
  </runtime>
