Ok, I have searched through the documentation folder, searched the forums, however, if anyone knows of a post that already answers this question please provide a link.

That said.  I am running VWD express and dnn 4.0.2  I am able to install a fully functional dnn site - on local host (using asp.net dev server - not IIS).  No errors - everything works perfect.  So I tried to simply copy the project using ftp and came up with a  404 not found error in the application's root folder, then I tried calling the /install/install.aspx page - that came back with a connection string error.

Next, realizing the error was in referencing a valid but empty database, I made a new installation which used the webserver database (MS-SQL 2005).  This installation ran fine on the asp.net dev server, but this time when I  ran the "copy website..." from vwd I only get a  'page cannot be displayed error, a blank page at /install/install.aspx, and the DNN logo at /install/install.htm.

Using VWD express I can not pre-compile the site (and don't want to as I would like to continue developing the site), any suggestions?? Thanks.
