Regarding Rod Weir's comments:

  • The Convert.ToDateTime function is used that should properly handle date conversions for a particular locale.
  • I don't like to store metadata either. However, this is a feature people asked for.
  • Yes, an administrator can add a value to a dropdown, a user selects that value and the administrator later removes it. The value the original user selected will still show in the database but no other user can select that value. This is a use case that some could want. If they want referential integrity they simply wont delete a value from a dropdown once it is used. We could prevent this in the code but why impose this restriction?

Hi,

Very good actually,

But I do not want  the user to login before he/she can vote. Actually it should be anonym, and I could not find any option for that.

In the final version you will be able to vote without logging in.

Michael,

Nice start on the survey module.  Just some thoughts as it moves forward.

Allow for internationalization.  (Questions and answers in more than 1 language) If a language is not supported it defaults to the base text.

Other properties for a question.  (SurveyDataItem) (Max length, validation message, validation regularl expression)

Other question types.   (Comment: Used by admin to post instructions,  Separator: Used by admin to break up / group questions, Range/Rating type:  Use a scale to answer a question(s).  )

Soft Deletes / Inactive for questions & choices etc.  (That way data isn't lost just hidden)

Store SurveyChoiceID in SurveyDataAnswer table.

Header / footer template.

CSS styling. (not necessarily tied to DNN styles)

Copy a Question or even a survey.

I was involved in creating a survey system in ASP a long time ago and these were some of the things we implemented and or had requests for.

Robert
