Using Michaels tutorials, make sure to get the module basics working properly then use this link as a reference for working with external database.

Thanks again. Obviously I can realize most of our needs with simply binding DataGrids to our SQL. So far I have the employee listing with a dropdown to filter for a specific department and the possibility to click an employee to get his full profile view.

Anyways there are some questions I have:

  • I would like to add an entry "All" to the dropdown which filters the employee lists for a specific department to make it possible to get a full company list.
  • Right now the DataGrid to show the employee list and the DataDetail control to show the selected employee profile are on the same page, so when an employee is selected from the list, his profile is shown below the list. This makes the page very big and furthermore I would like to link to specific employee profiles in a way like profile.aspx?employeeId=21

How can I realize this (add "all" to the dropdown filter and have the employee details loaded on a separate page)?
