Hello,

When i try to view any page on my site i recieve an error page that only says 'An error has occurred'. In the url there is this error: &error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object.&content=0.

This happened after i added an update panel to a module.  There are update panels in other modules but for some reason this one has caused a problem.  I tried rebuilding my website in vs2008 and i recieved the following error:

The type 'System.Web.UI.UpdatePanel' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\e38a56a1\78cac461\assembly\dl3\e4a537a4\864e23ea_28a2c901\System.Web.Extensions.DLL' and 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll'

Any ideas?

After doing some googling i discovered that if i deleted the assembly reference for System.Web.Extensions that solved the problem.

Ok new problem.  Whenever i add an update panel to a module the assembly is added and the same error reappears.  Any ideas?
