The FCKEditor used in DNN's HTML/Text modules wraps a <p></p> around all text entered in, even if you try to remove them in 'source' mode. I have tried soltions presented on the FCKEditor website, but in v4.9,2 of DNN, it does not work.

FCKConfig.EnterMode = 'br' ; // p | div | br
FCKConfig.ShiftEnterMode = 'br' ; // p | div | br

I don't understand how setting the action for the Enter key has anything to do with the default <p>&#160;</p> that shows up in the editor before someone even touches a key. How in the world can these be removed permanently?

Hi.

At least i know how to avoid the standard <p>&160</p> even in empty editor boxes.

Set

FCKConfig.FillEmptyBlocks  = false ;

This setting can be found in:

[dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\fckconfig.js
[dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfig.js
and maybe even here [dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\_source\internals\fckconfig.js

The effective location is specified in your web.config file and is by default [dnnroot]\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfig.js
However, to avoid your changes being overwritten on upgrade, I suggest to rename the file and adopt the file path in web.config accordingly.
