Hi,
A few months ago, I was looking for a hosting provider to install DNN. I've look a few one and finally stopped on Webhost4life.com. Here is a little review of that Hosting Provider. Many good points, a couple bad... nobody is perfect!
GOOD:
- price...super cheap... less than 200$ / year
- install and run more than 1 portal... I have 15 different websites running on the same DNN installation.
- I have to pay 15$ USD / year to get an email account for each domain, but it still cheap!
- Customer support is very fast (live chat & help desk)... for the price I paid... it's totally worth it. (but most of the bugs were caused by them, so in a way, they must be fast like this.
- Control Pannel: you can do whatever you want... a lot of possibility (but it's not very userfriendly...looks like a year 2000 websites... missing usability)
BAD:
- a few downtime, I can say that a 30 minutes downtime appear almost once a month. (they have a lot of rooting issue)
- some bugs in their control pannel, so you often need to contact them when adding a new email account, because it's not working all the time.
- because it's a shared environement, if you expect more than 10 000 visits per day, this is not for you! Or just choose the dedicated option (more expensive!)
- Scheduled Task... I purchased scheduled task but still have problem with the Keep Alive... not really sure that Scheduled task is a solution to the keep alive.
- even if their Live Chat service is fast, sometimes you need to be carefull with the answer they give to you...not always the same!
CONCLUSION
Webhost4life is perfect for any personal or small websites! A lot of freedom and there are a lots of free options that you usually need to pay on other providers. If you are a web conceptor and have a few small clients, it's super cheap to create 1 installation and have 10 websites running under it without any problem.
But if you expect a lot of trafic on your website or you are a serious big company, you should totally avoid the sharing servers. I didn't try the dedicated though. But there is too many down times and the server will be overloaded easilly...
That's it... hope this can help a few of you who are looking for a hosting provider.
