Ok, here is the scoop. I can put .XML files in a given folder and then link to them in my BLOG posts and people can download them just fine. But if I put a file with .KML or .KMZ in that same folder, then DNN redirects me back to the root window. Any thoughts of how to allow downloading of these files? I had this problem with other extensions too like .XLS (excel)

Thanks!

Go figure. I get frustrated and ask for help then find the answer just minutes later.

This problem had nothing to do with DNN. It just so happened that it was the DNN website that it popped up on. It was the MIME headers that needed to be configured. IIS didn't know what to do with the file so it was reporting it as a 404 error which I had configured to route to the main page.

In any case, I can now deal with the KMZ and KML files just fine. Just went into the website properties and adjusted the MIME headers from the headers tab.
