Is anyone out there developing or already have a Mail List manager integrated within DNN or as stand alone that runs in windows & MSSql DB?

I have a customer that has 4,000+ opt in list & I send out a newsletter 2 times a month.  I am presently using http://www.listmailpro.com/ but NOT HAPPY with the web hosting support or support of the listmail software.  Use to take 2 weeks to get reply and now have NOT RECEIVED replies in 8 weeks.

Need the following features:

  • Bounce handling automatically removes undeliverable email addresses from your lists on 2nd failure
  • Ability to add new emails from an html, asp page or within DNN that retains the IP from origination.
  • Ability to send out a newsletter text and HTML from the email list.
  • In the event of an unexpected failure you can easily and safely resume your mailings, or do it automatically with the new auto-resume script!

 Well, there are a couple I'm aware of. A search of snowcovered will show them. I've personally used two and can claim mixed results, and not all the problems are someone the module developer can help you with. If it's any indication, I'm using Constant Contact myself even though I own two other DNN mailing list packages. It's not like I just dropped out of the bulk email tree yesterday either, for many years I managed the promotional emails for a major airline and we were shipping out several million emails a week.

Before you decide to go local with your emails for off make sure you don't violate the terms of your hosting agreement. Many specifically prohibit bulk email. Others may limit the number of emails per hour you can send. Will your ISP support your bulk email efforts? For example big ISP's end up on a lot of SPAM block lists because spammers will set up domains, blast a bunch of email, then disappear. Because of this places like AOL Yahoo, Hotmail, and many others will have white lists, black lists, and grey lists. It can be a lot of work to be able to get email delivered from your domain to lots of others by getting your domain on the right white lists, off the black lists, and through the probation period of the grey lists.

SO before you grab a package and cancel that listmailpro service, make sure you understand what you're getting into. It's not just a matter of installing the software, loading your list, and letting things fly.

 Keith:

I have my own dedicated server with own IP so thoughs concerns don't apply.

I do have some unique needs in that my customer has a treasure hunter site & the most of the opt in people will not provide there first & last name.  I tried Email Manager Standard from dnn-modules.com and that was a show stopper.

Does anyone else have some recomendations of something for DNN similar to listmailpro.com?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm trying to use constant contacts, but when I put the code in (for users to sign up for it) the <form> stuff seems to mess up the page.... sending my right pane to the bottom of the page.  How do you do it?  Thanks in advance for any help.

This is what I've pasted in:

<div align="center">

<div style="width:160px; background-color: #ffffff;">

<form name="ccoptin" action="http://visitor.constantcontact.com/d.jsp" target="_blank" method="post" style="margin-bottom:3;"><span style="background-color: #006699; float:right;margin-right:5;margin-top:3"><img src="http://img.constantcontact.com/ui/images1/visitor/email1_trans.gif" alt="Email Newsletter icon, E-mail Newsletter icon, Email List icon, E-mail List icon" border="0"></span>

<font style="font-weight: bold; font-family:Arial; font-size:16px; color:#006699;">Sign up for our Email Newsletter</font>

<input type="text" name="ea" size="20" value="" style="font-family:Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10px; border:1px solid #999999;">

<input type="submit" name="go" value="GO" class="submit"  style="font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10px;">

you cannot use forms inside DotNetNuke. you need to create a custom module or use an existing generic forms module like free helferlein forms from www.helferlein.com.
