Hi there,

For a project I need to do a Request.ServerVariables["..."] to get access to user profile information from an external source. This does work just fine in a separate script outside DNN (I get my data correctly), but when I move this code into my own module ascx I get an empty string as result. I tried to read the information outside DNN and store it in the Session scope and then do a redirect into my homepage tab using Request.Redirect("..."). This didn't work out either; I assume that DNN clears the Session scope.

Does anyone know how to access server variables inside DNN?

Sometimes things get solved by their own, it seems, or appear to be completely different.

My redirect to an inside-DNN page was badly done. Reason was that I had to include a parameter (?abc=true), but my redirect was this: http://.../default.aspx?tabid=1&abc=true. Doing it like this resolved into missing Request.ServerVariables.

The correct way is using url-like parameters for DNN default stuff, like this: http://.../tabid/1/default.aspx?abc=true

Strangely enough, in the latter one, you do have access to the Request.ServerVariables! (using DNN 4.9.1 by the way).

if you want to do this the correct way, you NEED to use NavigateUrl(), as this plugs into the dnn friendly url provider, which in turn will generate correct urls if you should choose to change to a different url provider
