Is there a way I can find the FileID of a file without having to access the File Table via sql?

I need to construct links with the FileId and do not have Host permissions.

I have a very limited knowledge of SQL.

Would I be able to run a query from the HOST>SQL page that would return the file names and fileIDs from the FIle table?

If yes, where could I find a starting point to do this.

Sorry to be a complete noob, but I have never used the HOST>SQL interface before.

If I pop:

select * from files

Into the SQL textbox and hit the "Execute" link, it will return a list of FileIds, FIle Names etc in the same window?
