Hi I have been using this thread

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/92/threadid/291162/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx

It all makes sense to me other than the fact that it references the vb page behind ViewEntry.ascx and I dont seem to have ViewEntry.ascx.vb at all. I am using DNN 5 so I dont know if this is possibly an updated version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or alternatively could somebody please send me the ascx.vb file.

Thanks very much,

James

Hi James,

the file ViewEntry.ascx.vb is the code behind for the ascx control, that can be found if you download the source package of the module. The install package (that I presume you downloaded and installed) contains the compiled code, that goes into the bin folder of your DNN install all packed into dll libraries. To alter the source code, and thus the module behavior, you need to download the source version, open it into Visual Studio 2003, recompile and overwrite the compiled dlls into the bin folder of your DNN install.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Thank you for getting back to me Dario,

So basically if I want to enable the social bookmarks I need to Install Visual Studio 2003, open the source files then recompile and overwrite into the bin folder?

There isnt any way to edit this through the module settings? It seems like quite a short coming in the module.

Thanks

James

Hi James,

well, you'll need Visual Studio if you want to change/add/remove buttons, but if you have some social buttons that you think you'll not need, you can alter those chicklets to enter your data. This is quite more simple, open up the chicklets array creation code with notepad (DesktopModules/Blog/ShareBadge/js/ShareBadgeChicklets.js) and poke around with the code you'll find. Alter the chicklets that are currently being used by the module. It will be quite straightforward, but if you need any help, just ask me.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Hi,

Sorry I have got a bit lost here now. I dont want to add any custom ones I just want to enable some of the standard ones that come with the blog module, like the facebook one for example. But am having trouble figuring out how to do that.
Do I need to do the recompile etc.... just so that I can enable some of the standard icons?

Thank you very much for your time, I really appreciate it.

James
