Now that IE 8 has been released what needs to be done to make our sites render without showing the broken page symbol in the browser? Has anyone looked to see what it is about the DNN rendered output that the browser is flagging?  I would like to fix it ultimately, but since everything seems to work fine on my site with IE 8 rendering engine, I want to put in the tag that tells IE that the site is standards compliant.  I put this fix request into Gemini, but was looking for a workaround in the mean time.

  Thanks.

I've seen issues with menus not hiding though (already logged in gemini).
I don't see any broken page symbol with IE8, I see a compatiblilty mode icon and by default. I think this is down to your IE8 not in compliance mode by default...

Anyway here is the workaround, all your portals must render under IE8 native mode correctly though...

Goto the root of the website, edit default.aspx in the website root folder, and add to where the other meta tag values are:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />

Once this happens you will see that the button simply disappears (taking the decision out of the users hands which in my view is a good thing in this instance).

If your site only renders correctly under IE7 (shame on you ) then use <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" />

Then again you could just rebel against MS's tags and leave the choice to your user.... frankly I think MS should never have introduced compatibility mode as this would have forced developers to "fix" their websites.

I have noticed however a few rendering quirks that are only reproducible on IE8 (not any other browser), it's intermittent so one assumes this is a bug that will need to be fixed by MS...

Hope this helps.
