Hello,

I have a site that is giving me the error message "Password could not be sent at this moment. Please try again later or contact the site administrator" when I click on the Forgot Password link. the username that I am entering is NOT locked and the SMTP settings seem to be correct as the test email goes thru fine. I have set the authentication to be "basic" as well.

Any information would be a huge help.

 make sure, the user account of the admin user, specified in site settings, has a valid email address and the SMTP server allows relaying of emails from this account to external addressees.

I also found a trick on this that had me stymied - in addition to everything Sebastian mentions if you have a dedicated server and are not using email function on it go in and switch off (disable) mail for that domain. That got it working for me. thanks
