I have paid for modules that have not been all that they were meant to be. What will you personally do about that?

If it's my module. refund your money or fix your problem.

FWIW, Active Forums is the way to go for DNN forums.  I'll also endorse Ventrian's News as a blog module.  Though the core blog module should do what you describe, once you get used to working with it.

Something to say though..   the man is a genius.    He gets no replies to first try ( as many threads also get no replies).   He returns with WTF and gets how many core and/or team replies?   Genius!

Don't get any ideas Brian .

Good observation.  That made me realize that I now know more about "Pat" (8 posts) than I do about "Brian" (598 posts).  Now I'm sad...I've been outsmarted by a three-letter acronym...

Well...we do seem to have stirred up a hornets nest.

(On this occasion) I'll ignore the not so thinly veiled attacks on me as a person. Surely these posts also contravene your very own forum rules don't they? (Sighs). I am pleased though that my 'Genius' has been noted :-)

Suffice to say that the 3 letter word, Pat, is not an acronym, misspelling, or pseudonym. It's a shortened version (abbreviated) of my name!  I can see that for some that may present you with a bit of a problem. It had never occurred to me to use ficticious or multiple usernames/accounts on here.

Quite how many posts I have put on here surely bears no actual relevance to the original question, even for those that unfortunately, despite strings of letters after their names, could not grasp what it was about or the reason for the posting. (I did not realise that all posts had to be written by Timid Timothy or Peter Perfect but I will try to be more reticent next time).

Seeing as I have never trained a programmer, sought consultations with Einstein or obtained a BSc (honours) in sarcasm, the number of postings I place on here are indicative of the fact that I do solve most problems myself despite my 'lack of education'. Or perhaps, (in other words), I just don't need to.

I do apologise therefore for not posting a problem that required the efforts of a mathematical Houdini to work out and insulting the intelligence of anyone who of course, knew the answer immediately but who couldn't just post a simple answer.

If this forum exists only to help those with a seriously difficult (in your opinion) and not a simple (any idiot knows the answer to that one) problem, then this forum will be of little use will it?

I hope that this ends this little thread and that my next posting will be done when I have not exhausted my patience and am about to throw this pc out through my window. (The reason for the initial posting).

Sadly, the thread went in a direction I never envisaged. Anyway, I have wasted enough time/money writing this now so I will finish.

Thank you again to those that posted helpful comments! :-)

WOW!  Pat, you still seem a bit miffed by the fact that many people are simply offended by your abbrasive cry for help, when we would have surely been glad to do so without all this rediculous banter.

I personally have had difficulty with the Forums module and the Blogs module, but was able to work through the issues, on my own as well as through the kind and incredibly generous help of others on this board.

So, to help bring this thread to a kinder end, I offer my services, free of charge (Time=No money in this case), to help you via phone, web meeting, or even RDP or direct login to your site or a test site, to help you configure the modules to work to your satisfaction.

Although time is also money for me and my business too, but I must say that harmony, courtesy and the general concept of thousands of strangers working tirelessly together to solve other people's problems FOR FREE, 24 hours a day is truely priceless!

Kudos to all of you who responded to Pat's less-prefered method of asking for help...You have all certainly helped me many times!   Now let's move past critisim and complaints, and solve the problem.  Call Rob at 678-567-9156 or email me directly at rob @ bluetorch . net, and I will be more than happy to help in any way that I can.   (Am I nuts to post my numuber & email here?!?).
