I need to customize the dnnUser so that a logged in, registered user gets a text string before their name:  "Logged in as" - John Doe.

I just need direction as to where this is located in the DNN code.

many thanks

The User control doesn't have a string that precedes the user name.  However, you can easily add something like this to your skin:

                                 < %=IIf(Request.IsAuthenticated, "Logged in as ", "")% >

                                  < dnn:USER runat="server" ID="dnnUSER" CssClass="user" / >

If the user isn't logged in, then nothing will be displayed in front of the User control.

--------

Note that I added spaces above before > and < so that these won't be interpreted as tags.

An alternate "Welcome Message" method (not using the dnnUser skin object):

Use a Text/HTML module to create the weclome message text / HTML along with a DNN token for the user's name (you can use USERNAME, DISPLAYNAME, FULLNAME, etc).  Must enable tokens in module settings and set the module "VIEW" permissions to "Registered Users" only.

PRO:  The welcome message can easily incorporate HTML, javascript, Flash, etc, and it doesn't get blown away when you upgrade to newer version of DNN.

CON:  The welcome message can only appear in a skin panel designated for modules and the Text/HTML module must be set to "Display on all pages".
