I think it will take several weeks before I'm going to build the site - it's not a high priority project. In fact, I need this module for a different purpose than a photo gallery: the web designer made a design with single, round or oval images with decorative borders, like a passe-partout or photo mount (not my style, but the site owner seems to like it...). Since the site owner has no image editing skills, I want to make it easy for her to change these images herself, in a way that she can upload the image, and the module lays the passe-partout over it. If this is what you are looking for, let me know, and I will keep you up-to-date if I find sth appropriate. But as I said: it will probably take a while.
