OK GUYS, i'm getting an error that i have no idea and nothing out there for answers. i created a 5.1 install - been working on it for a few weeks and all is well.

BUT then i went back to work on another one of my vs2005 asp.net projects (not DNN), and i get the below message:

A potentially dangerous Request.Cookies value was detected from the client (DNNPersonalization="<profile><item key="...").

it says to turn off the validating but is that ok??? i've never seen this and would not submit to customer with the validating turned off...so what is the solution?

i'm getting ready to go back to 4.9....????

thanks for ANY direction....

I think here is a real problem here.

My company has some internal websites development in DOT.NET, they use them all the time, and there is something not working properly, when they view my DNN 5.1 web solution, they  can't go back to the other dot.net websites, because of this error.

I have all the possible browsers installed, and this error happened in Firefox / Opera / Chrome.

Only if they clear the cookies, the problem goes away.... but i it will return :(

I was inspecting the contents of the cookie and i found a strange character in the item key, the same key reported in error by .net

A potentially dangerous Request.Cookies value was detected from the client (DNNPersonalization="<profile><item key="...").

DNNPersonalization

<profile><item key=":" type="System.String, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"><string>True</string></item></profile>

Any ideias how to remove that character ?

Thanks.
