I've tried using the language token as well as the DSLocalizator (Locopon's DNN) in my skin but somehow the language cookie seems to be non-persistent. So the selected language does get saved in a cookie, but only exists within the current session. Been trying to figure out which setting might force this in my web.config but w/o success so far.

Web.config holds:

<add key="PersistentCookieTimeout" value="60" />

<authentication mode="forms">
      <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies"  slidingExpiration="true"/>
 </authentication>

<httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="false" domain="" />

Any thoughts?

this is by design. when a user accesses the web site, anonymous users get displayed either the preferred language set in their browser or the portal default language, for registered users the preferred language is taken from user profile.

I realize that at first this is default behaviour but when that person closes the browser and starts it again and navigates to the website the cookie will be no longer available. I've seen other sites where the same language cookie is persistent and still exists (even after browser is shut down)

 I am of the opinion, that this is not desired behaviour, especially on public computers.

Please, elaborate...

How would that be not desired behaviour on private computers (which will be in most cases?), why would I want to set my language each time I visit a particular website that does not work with accounts?

Anyone else that has a bright view on this?
