Hi,

I just upgraded several of my sites and have done so on many occasions in the past without issue. In fact this is the first time a significant issue has shown up.

After upgrading 4.9.1 to 4.9.3 all appeared to go perfect and I followed the exact same protocol I have used dozens of times - now I can't login. None of my accounts work.

Any suggestions on what might have gone wrong would be helpful.

I used my backups to reset the site to its original state and followed the upgrade protocol again and did every step ensuring that I didn't miss anything and voila I got the same result.

It is quite strange as several of my upgrades from 4.9.2 to 4.9.3 on other sites went without issue - it just seems to be an issue with 4.9.1 to 4.9.3.

Thanks,

Pat

Hey Sebastian,

So in upgrading from 4.9.1 to 4.9.3 I should just keep my old web.config? If not how do I not touch the web.config - just need a little clarification.

Normally, as per the blog on this site for upgrading, I make the changes to the new web.config to make them match my old web.config, e.g. the database details.

I appreciate your help.

Pat

Rather than waiting for a reply I just tried it. I put my old web.config in and the site is working again.

Will this limit any of the upgrade functionality?

Thanks,

Pat

Since DNN 4.6.2, web.config is adopted automatically by the upgrade process, i.e. your site will work as expected.
