I know it still exists as an archived remnants of 2006(ish) found here, but what ever happened to the Showcase Sites..? I know the framework has come a looooooong way since last year even, but I can say that the showcase sites were one of my big tipping points back in the day for choosing DNN.
And, if by some chance were they ever to return to some sort of "upfront" feature of the DotNetNuke.com site, just how would one submit one's site for review?
Its not for a want of boasting, but rather to show off just what can be done using this application. The biggest problem I think first-time visitors, exploring the idea of adopting DNN have, is that the sites look like DNN. By that I mean: If you look at any heavy asp.net website (in fact, just go look at the asp.net website), you'll see what I mean. Sure they're powerful database driven, content heavy sites, but they needn't look so... ...well, programmatic. Before 4.9.0, we had the choice of DNN Blue, or DNN Grey for our default skin.
My point is, there are some seriously hot DotNetNuke sites out there that don't stink of default DNN. Designers and developers alike have taken something really robust, really reliable, really powerful and have done so much more to it. There's no place on this site to show that off.
Your thoughts...? Anyone..?
I know this should probably go into a blog, but I don't know where to put it, or how to get it there...
