I don't understand why i cannot expose my code to other modules.

In my own code i can simply type in

using

DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.Controls;

and there i have the Forum controls.

But when i try to type

using MyCompany.DNN.Modules.Data

I see nothing.

Each user control in my module can only see it's own namesapce. Not the others nor any other classes i put in the folder.

What am i doing wrong?

Hi Andrew,

are you using VS and WAP model? Did you reference your library in the project? Does the imported namespace expose any public class?

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I am using the source code, for my development. So i simply put in my module in the modules folder. Does that mean i am not using WAP? Hmm.
I have to be honest things have changed since i last developed in .NET 1.1, i find the whole folder structure confusing.
I am not sure how to reference it. It is after all the same project. Do i need to? If i choose add a reference. I get to choose the project, but it is the same one.

Hi Andrew,

do you open your project as a specific Solution (.sln file) or a Visual Basic Project (.vbproj file)? This means you are using the WAP (web application project) model. Or do you open the entire Dontenuke website using File > Open Website? This means that you are using the WSP (web site project) model. If you are using WSP you don't need to reference your other projects, since everything resides in the same project. Just check that your namespaces are correctly spelled, and that classes are set as public.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
