The whole Smart-Thinker product suite is written in C# on the WAP model. I don't really mind what the core is written in (VB.NET looks good on my CV ;)   but I use C# when I have a choice...

It's this that I'm refering too : 'but I use C# when I have a choice...'  Why, and is that something that you've been doing for the last few years?

I know what my reasons are for C# but I'm curious as to why it seems like more people are choosing C# now then a few years ago.  Simply looking for a discussion...

For me Linq is easier to write in C#.

That may or may not be true... certainly in the UK I see more VB.NET jobs than C#, maybe elsewhere this is different...

Regardless you could argue which language is best for popularity, structure, stability, syntax till the cows come how.... the point is moot when .NET framework runs on the CLR... Program DNN in Cobol.NET if you like (although you might want to write a starter kit first :).

I write in C# because I think that being multi-linqual is important.  There are many examples written in C# and many in VB.  I like to know that if someone writes code in either of these languages, that I will be able to read and understand it.  It kills me when I see a C# developer who will avoid a project because it is written in VB.  At the end of the day I do not want to be known as a VB developer.  I am a software engineer who knows many languages and has chosen VB for a particula project, but is equally comfortable with other languages as well.

Also, different languages have evolved  some unique features.  C# supports more advanced lambda expressions and anonymous methods, whereas VBs LINQ to XML is vastly superior to what is offered by C#.
