Hi.
On my DNN installation (5.0.1) with Blog 3.5.1 I've got critical (IMO) error (repeatable).

After changing Blog settings (core DNN module settings , I've only switched off Container visibility ) all permalinks were regenerated !!
All permalinks were changed from 'SEO frienldy' to 'standard' version.
Most irritating is that I didn't touch any of the Blog settings, just changed module container visibility !

Why 'Regenerate Permalink' command is on two settings screens (Blog settings and Module options).
Only 'Regenerate Permalink' command from 'Blog settings' worked correctly (generated 'SEO friendly' permalinks).

Hi Tomasz,

my understanding is that you exited the Settings screen using the Update button. Since the Module Settings control inherits from the DotNetNuke ModuleSettingsBase class, when you trigger the update you also trigger the module's logic that handles settings update, including regenerating the permalinks.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

In my opinion 'PermaLink' means Permanent Link and it should not change ever, unless explicit user request / action.
It's crucial for SEO (Search engines).

I've changed only module container visibility, nothing more. PermaLinks should not change it such situation.
Second, in blog settings perma links are in 'SEO Friendly' option, so even if they are changed on module settings update (which is error) they should be generated in 'SEO fienldy' maner. They were not.

Third - regenerate permalink command is on two settings screens (Blog settings and Module options), and those command behave diferently, one generates permalinks in 'SEO friendly' maner, other always generates permalinks in 'old' form.

Hi Tomasz

thank you for posting and sharing your thoughts. We provide a "Regenerate permalinks" command to allow our users to apply changes made on their site. This is needed for example when the module page is moved, or when the module is moved. This is also needed when the editor decides to change the entry titles to gain a better SEO title. Regarding the different behavior of the two commands, I think it is a bug: they both should behave at the same way according to the module settings. The command on the blog settings should regenerate only links in that blog, while the command in module settings should regenare all the permalinks in the portal. You can add a Gemini ticket for this, listing the exact repro steps that lead to this issue.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
