I've been beating my brains out trying to figure out why I can't get DNN to work with my old database. After much digging, the only difference I see is that I can use the visual web developer to create a new website, and everything works perfectly. Use my old database, and I get the following:;

Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: The stored procedure 'dbo.UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName' doesn't exist.

I can attach the database the look at the dbo user, the only difference I see between the new site and the old one is that the new site does not have the "domain\administrator" as the login, can't change it since it's grayed out.

Any ideas on where to look next? This is our school district website, and I need to get it back up and running. http://www.jeffersondavis.k12.ms.us

Thanks,

Tim Bryant

Make sure, database access permissions are granted properly for SQL server account used and database owner/object qualifier is kept as previously used in web.config file.

All that looks good, still coming up with the same problem. Is there a way with SQL Express 2008 to export the data into a new database? I can connect to a new database without a problem, and have tried restoring a backup to the new database, and the same problem starts again.

Not sure what to do next.

Thanks,

Tim Bryant

either there is a problem in your database, which does lack objects on contain data corruption or you have problems to access it properly. Backup and restore wouldn't be of help in this situation. Try to identify the source of your problem, compare structure and objects with a blank install.

Thanks for the help - the only thing I see that is different is that my dbo user shows "DOMAIN\administrator" as the login name. Not sure where else to look.

Thanks,
