Hi gus,

I am 100% new to DNN, I was actually asked to download a DNN site from the WebHost using ftp and set it up on a local test environment using DNN.

I have done the following.

1. Backed up and downloaded the database from the ftp host using the credentials I was given.

2. Downloaded DNN 4.3.4 (The version used to set up the application in the first place) and deployed it on the new test environment following all the instructions in the installation guide.

3. Created a new database in SQLServer 2005, assign the necessay file permissions, and made necessary changes in the configuration file as described in the installation guide,

* After all the above steps, the app was working fine, but once I override the database with the new one I backed up from the ftp site, I get a page cannot be displayed message each time i try to browse the site.

Please will somebody help me?

you do not need to install new DNN from downloaded package.

Instead

download database and all files from WebHost site and copy locally. Setup IIS web site directory and database accordingly to previous use (either attach database or use fali based connection string. open database, go to table portalAlias and add an entry for the designated portal pointing to your local installation. Make sure to use same local path to get all images displayed correctly. Now browse the site and access using existing credentials.
