Our module is querying our HR database and returning a list of all employees. When one is clicked, the employee profile is shown.

Now how can I integrate that with the DNN search, so when someone searches for an employee name, his record will displayed in the search results? I tried ISearchable but I am not sure how to do it (althoug I have the Prof DNN Module Programming book). In particula I do not know how I would make the search result link back to our default.aspx?employeeId=xy profile view.

you need to implement ISearchable, i.e. create your GetSearchItems method. GetSearchItem can be used to link to detail view by passing the appropriate query string variable as "GUID" parameter, i.e. "itemid=147".

I am not using a BusinessControllerClass, because we just use one view which queries our HR database and displays simple GridView listings. Can we use ISearchable anyways?

Can you explain this more in detail? I have a scenario where i need to get data from existing ( non-dotnetnuke) database, and make the Isearchable get search results using dotnetnuke search engine. Is this possible ?
