Hi All,
I sell CMS and eCommerce installations and templates. I mainly depend on open source products but I also work with commercial products like Ektron CMS etc. It usually makes sense to recommend the Joomla CMS project as a base for a small to midsize website. However, I would really like to move from php to the .NET environment. Convince me why should I consider DNN?

To be specific here are my concerns:

1. Performance. I checked every single DNN powered site on the showcase page and all of them had a slow response time(!). In these forums there are many complains about performance. What is there to say to defend DNN?
2. Fathered by Perpetual Motion - good or bad? I noticed the new benefactor program plus this site is full of ads - I mean is this an open source project or ...?
3. How big is the community?

Don't get me wrong, DNN rocks but help me see it...

Thank you!

1. slow startup is due to .Net and can be prevented by a keep alive service. There are numerous post about this in the forums.

2. DotNetNuke is OpenSource, read the licence. Project Lead Shaun Walker tries to run it in a productive mannor and there is a very active core team together with many sub projects, caring for components, providers and modules.

3. have a look into the forums here and at http://forums.asp.net/90/ShowForum.aspx
