Clive,

I have experienced some simular problems and managed to resolve the issue by going to "admin > Schedule > ...Users.PurgeUsersOnline, DOTNETNUKE" and playing around with the settings there. The settings I am using were recommended on another post on the DNN site for another issue I had:

Scheduled Enabled: Yes
Time Lapse: 1 Minutes
Retry Frequency: 5 Minutes
Retain Schedule: 60
Run On Event: APPLICATION_START

Your best bet is to have a play around with the settings and to also check your sites caching settings as this may also have something to do with it.

I hope this helps!

Also check the users online timeout in Host/HostSettings. The default is 20 minutes after activity is detected before a user quits showing in UsersOnline.

Thanks. That was a good tip.
