These guys (The Persian Boys Hacking Team) have hacked hundreds of DNN sites in the last few days, including several of mine:

Is there an unpatched hole or exploit that we don't know about?

They only seem to be able to inject "Portals/0/index.html.txt"

Still, it's concerning...  Wonder which version the sites are on...

The root sites still seem to be working fine though.

If you go to Site.com/ErrorPage.aspx it will tell you what version of DNN the site is running (its a nice trick that we've used for a long time to quickly figure out what DNN version a site is on, but it was removed in 4.9.4).

There's a security vulnerability that existed in 4.8.3 and below that is being actively exploited.  The hole is plugged in the lastest version so upgrading to 4.9.4 is highly recommended as there are security vulnerabilities that exist that are much more significant than this one that have been patched.

Hi JT,

There has been recent activity in the exploit of sites using a bug that was corrected about a year ago.  Cathal discusses this in a bit more detail in a recent blog post.  The original security bulletin is located here.

It is important that sites be kept up to date, especially when security issues are involved.

On of my sites was hacked as well ... but in my case they actually replaced the default.aspx file. This particular site is on an older version 4.6.2.. I will definitely look to upgrade them in the next couple of days. Thanks for the info!
