I'm using a webhosting company to host my DotNetNuke Site whoch is located in a different Time Zone As I live.

When I go to Host Settings, I can see the Server Time, which is off course the time in the time zone where the server is located.

In Edit Portals, Under Advanced Settings --> Other Settings I specified the Portal TimeZone to be the TimeZone I (and most of my Members) live In.

In My Account Profile, I also set the TimeZone to the TimeZone I live in.

After I've set all these TimeZones, I would expect that DotNetNuke would recalculate all datetimes to the datetime a specific user (which set his or her timezone) lives in. But when I go to for example the event viewer, all events show the datetime of server's timezone, not my timezone. Did I miss some setting, or is this issue still not resolved in DotNetNuke 5.0.1?

I found this article that describes this issue, but since it is an old article, I can imagine that this is already resvolved in the latest version? Or is there another way of to overcome this problem without making a modification to the code, because I'm really not that good in programming and I installed DotNetNuke using my webhost  Control Panel.

There is an issue inside time zone calculation, which doesn#t work properly, if server time zone is other than portal time zone. The source of the problem might be user:usertime class, which provides usertoservertime and servertousertime methods, which in fact, simply convert between user preferred time zone and portal time zone. I still hope we get all time zones fixed in DNN 5.2, when we will require .Net framework .5.SP1 and are able to use framework Timzone classes including DST support for all locations. It may, however, take some time, until the new classes are properly used by all module developers.

Thnx, I'll have to wait untill DNN 5.2 then!

I've also another related question. The server is not only in a different TimeZone. but also in that timezone DayLight Saving Time isn't used, while in my TimeZone it is used. This results in the fact that for example in the forum module the datestamps of all posts are 'stamped' 1 hour to early during the 'summer' period. Will this also be fixed in DNN 5.2, and is there an (easy) temporarily fix for this?

 Hans,

yes, it is one of my main goals for implementing use of windows time zones - because DST can hardly be implemented w/o relying on windows time zones. However, modules will need to be adopted to use the new time zones properly - I hope, this will happen quickly with modules relying on date/time likle Forums, Blog, Events and form and List.

Hi,

I am not sure if this is my case too. I have my portal with the Central Time (UTC -06:00) and I am using a helpdesk module and when I am creating a TroubleTicket the system is calculate the datetime worng because for exemplo if the TT was created at 9:00 am is storing in the data base like 10:00 am. So the time is wrong in all my TT. But the procedure that is saving the information has     @Ticket_Created_On datetime , so I am thinking that datetime does not have the correct time.

How can I fix that? Could you please help me?

Thx America
