I'm hoping someone will direct me to the correct forum. Been playing with DNN for some time on 'localhost' with portal '0'. Decided to move my application to a host. I secured two domains (.net) and (.org) for my application. I opened an account with 'www.3essentials.com' for two hosted domains. I assumed I needed the two hosted domains for the (.net) and (.org) of my application. Now I'm thinking I only needed one hosted domain for the (.net) on portal '0' and (.org) on portal '1'. I'm obviosly new to this and looking for advice on phlosophy of using domains on the host account versus portals within DNN. I thanks you for your advice in advance. Dave

Due to DotNetNuke's MultiPortal feature, you only need a single hosting space with a single database to run multiple (nearly) independent web sites.

Besides, each of these web sites may have multiple domain names (www.mydomain.com, www.mydomain.org) pointing to it (displaying the same content of course).

But one thing about SEO or Search Engine Optimization is that if you want both these domains listed in google independatly you need to make the content of each domain unique ... if you want this you should use one domain name for portal 0 and the other for portal 1 ...still only need one ISP web hotell account ... this way you have to unique websites in the same dotnetnuke installation .... if you poit both domain names to the same content you will produce duplicate content and google will drop one of your domains out of their listings ....
