I would like to publicize DNN to internet in a notebook behind router. I run at Vista and still show timeout error. It seems that something cannot be connected but I have no idea on it. Pls help.

Since my ISP have blocked port 80, I use port 8080 for connection. It works fine in viewing simple asp page but timeout error for DNN. What would I do? DB connection? Directory permission?

What is the specific error?

Also, since port 80 is blocked, I'm assuming you are accessing the site by IP address. Did you add that as a Portal Alias?

Thanks for reply.

There is no specific error. I cannot view DNN page with other PC by browsing http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/dnn. (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is WAN IP and dnn is my virtual directory)

It is fine to view IIS default page by browsing http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080

How would I add that as a Portal Alias?

you might need to specify port in web.config as well, but I never tried using a different port.

Yes, it is solved by following 2 steps.

1. Add code <add key="UsePortNumber" value="true" /> in web.config

2. Add portal alias xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/dnn

Then I can visit my site with http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/dnn. :)

Another question:

I am using dynamic ip. What would I do so that I don't have to add portal alias for new ip everytime?

Thanks for help
