can anyone explain to me why it is that in every example i see online of how to assign aspnet privileges to my website's directory......they show a box with several tabs on top....

general | sharing | security | web sharing | customize

and they show that once you click the "security" tab you have a list of user accounts which you can then assign rights to the directory (read only/write etc)

but on MY system (xp pro - iis 5) i don't have two seperate tabs for "sharing" and "security" - i have a single tab called "sharing/security" and there appears to be no way to grant user accounts any kind of rights???

i am logged in as admin

First of all my english in very bad :).

ok, in the windows explorer go to Tools/Folder options, in the tab View-Advance configuration: unmark the checkbox: Simple sharing archives (whatever).

Then go back to you website's directory and assing provileges: in the tab security add a new user: aspnet, then click in check names, Accept, bottom in the permissions mark Total control to that user and Accept.

This should help you.
