Hi all,
I use DNN 5 and I would like to create a home  page for my portal  like this one "  www.jobintree.com  " How can I do? To create my home page in visual studio and add  it in the portal? how can I add redirects from my home page to other DNN pages and vice versa?
Thank you for your help

You do not create pages and upload them to DNN.  DNN creates pages dynamically based on what you specify as a skin and as individual pieces of content (modules) on each page.  You use Visual Studio to create "modules" for DNN.  Modules must be created and deployed in a very specific way (there are entire books on the subject with the best probably being Mitchel Sellers' Professional DotNetNuke Module Programming which IMO is a great place for an experienced .Net coder to begin with DNN module programming).

Custom Homepage / Skin
You'll need a custom skin to make your homepage look similar to the example site.  Your skin will either implement each graphic link itself through HTML (i.e., "hard coded" in the skin) or you will need to create a custom module to implement the graphic links dynamically.

The easiest method would be to create one custom skin with hard-coded graphics/links just for the homepage with a second skin with container areas suitable for adding modules for the rest of the site.

If you're new to DNN and/or to skinning the fastest solution would be to hire someone to create the skin for you.  Skinning in DNN has a steep initial learning curve if you've not done any type of skinning before.

Hope that helps-

   Hi mamlin,

   Thanks for your reply,

I just created a skin organized like the example with the different panes. However, I don't  know how to have images of each  menu's area retains its css (image and image hover). For the menu's areas I have tried menu with text / html and media modules.

Thank you

There are certainly a number of different ways to accomplish what you want.  If I were doing it I would not try to use modules for the homepage graphic menu as this adds an extra level of complexity for what will probably be a fairly static menu once you're done.

I'd instead hard-code the home page graphic links in the homepage skin itself (assuming your primary menu items will not be changing very often).  You'd only apply that particular custom skin on the homepage -- the rest of your site could use whatever skin you like so you'd provide places for adding modules within your general site skin but not for the graphic menu of your homepage skin.

If you think your graphic menu will be changing often, another option would be to provide a homepage skin with a space for a big, centered Text/HTML module.  You'd then hand-code a plain HTML-based graphic menu (the whole menu with all graphics and links) and then drop that in the Text/HTML module using the "Source" view from the module's "Edit Text" screen toolbar.
