I just know I'm going to get negative replies to this, but having spend over a day trying to configure a forum module, I think it's a pertinent question. It contains some very basic bugs that should have been spotted by a tester, even if he was blind drunk and off his head on coke. It corrupts the database when you click cancel on a post, it doesn't send out notification emails consistently, images don't appear in Opera, it doesn't even render in the right direction in firefox (with control panel), when a moderator posts he has to then moderate his own post, and I suspect (but am too tired to check) that maybe the scheduler task tries to access the http context or something because a ship load of 'object not set' errors get shovelled into the log like coal in a furnace if you switch the scheduler over to timer mode. Given that the style of speak in dnn team blogs is all centered around how the highest dev standards are used, and isn't it great that with version 5.blah.blah dnn officially becomes rocket science, one has to 'keep it real' as they say, and ask 'How did the forum module pass testing'. The question is of course rhetorical. I just hope if nothing else, that promises are kept, and the next version is released soon. A forum is such an important part of most product/service based sites. Perhaps a suggestion. Re: the dnn roadmap - does it come with SatNav?

The current forum release was a legacy release, before a lot of the new standards have been put in place.  They are working to improve the quality of this module, and to prevent these types of things from happening in the future.  Hopefully we will get a new release soon, and we can go from there.

I'm not going to defend anything, I'm just hoping that we can look towards the future.

Hi Rob,

I can undersand your frustation about a not bug free module.  But I think you should stay be fearly, and doing not badmouth so to the tester and voluntairs.  The module was tested with a lower version of DNN (highest Version that was availible on release) and worked on testing well.

The team is working hard to solves the issues, and if you following it you have see a new version is on release testing.  This needs its time by a so big module, and we follow to look that the module work well.  Basicly we testing with I.E., a test with all browsers needs months to get this module to release.  I see the problem with the browsers that all browser ventors still going its own way, and didn't hold completely on the W3C standards.  This still makes it hard for developers to prevent issues to all browsers.

DNN Roadmap is not handled from the Forum Team.
