While this is a valid enhancement request, I think it bears noting that even in shared hosting scenarios, one can't assume that individual accounts are portal accounts. For example, you cite GoDaddy ... looking at their offering, it appears that you get a host-level account. As a result the issue of thousands of users using the same email account does not arise.

I don't understand what you're saying. I host sites on a single installation. These sites are parent portals. Each site is for a user or company and they are totally independent of each other. Just like any hosting company. Now when they try to use a module like the feedback module, the feedback module in any site is going to use the same mail account. As a mail administrator, I can't for example set a limit of outgoing mesages because the mail account is shared by everyone. One user might send out thousands of message and I can't control it because it will affect all ther other sites.

It seems you guys have the idea that DNN should be used only by the same user or same entity and all the portals belong to the same person. This is not the case for all the scenarios of DNN installations.

My example of Godaddy was to picture how impractical to have all their sites use the same mail account. Not that Godaddy is actually using DNN in thaty scrnario. I am sayinig imagine I am hosting different sites for different people. These people need to be using their own mail accounts. For security, auditing, logging, controlling purposes.

Go figure...

The relay server just sends out emails on behalf of your mail server. So how does this solve the issue I am talking about. Relay or not, it's still the same mail account!

I do see your requirement, but like Nik said before, there are workarounds and we plan to modify this when overhauling mail component, most likely using a provider interface, which will require different  SMTP settings - of course per portal.

I am giving up on you. Clearly, you do not know what you're talking about. You throw in terms and say there are workarounds. I asked you 3 times to give an example or post more clarification and you post a silly wikipedia link and try to be funny to hide your ignorance.  People who post useless help are annoying.
