Hey Everyone,

Not quite a new user to the DNN platform but have a very tricky technical question for us.  Recently my old host provider has stopped hosting my DNN site.  I've gone ahead and setup DNN 4 on a new windows 2003 server with SQL Express 2008 setup.  I've obtained a copy of the DNN database running on my former host provider but have only received the Portal ID folders (41 and 47) as far as files go.   I've been having a lot of trouble getting the sites running on this new DNN installation,  can anyone guide me into what i need to update/change/restore?  i've gone ahead and reset the passwords for the DNN admins in the database and still can't login.

ANy help is appreciaated.

Chris,

Without a full site backup you are really in for a treat.  DNN needs the various modules and other items that are installed for it to be functional.  You also need the machine key values out of the web.config for the passwords to work.

You "MIGHT" be able to get it working, by doing a fresh installation of the EXACT SAME dnn version.  Installing all needed third party modules, then restoring your database.  But this is a VERY risky operation and prone to errors.
