I've spent a good deal of time building and configuring a module in a page. I'd like to use the same module in another page without having to rebuild it. I know I'm missing something simple, but I haven't found a way to do it. Can a module be copied and re-used on another page elsewhere in the portal?

You can do this by selecting the 'add existing module' option from the controlpanel at the top of the page. Alternatively you can use the "copy" function in the page functions part of the controlpanel. Please note that this has been revised to offer more options in the next release (at present it links rather than copies the content) - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=2614

Thank you! While working with your suggestions, I've surfaced another issue- I'd like the account login module to redirect to a page other than a default 'home' page, since the 'home' page is already spoken for. I have looked for the editing option to provide a different redirect, but I'm missing it.

login as admin or host, and go to admin->site settings, expand out 'advanced settings', you'll set settings for home, login and user pages, that allow you to set the locations for these common user points (note:if you change the login page, make sure you've set it to a page with an account login module otherwise you'll lock yourself out of the portal).

Note: in the next release, we've also added an option to allow selection of a custom page to go to after login- http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=2674
