I am having the same problem.  I have tried everything Stuart has tried except updating to 5.1.

I have 507 users and 31 roles.   It seems to work for a few weeks and then the server requires a reboot. Last time the reboot did not fix it. We thought we had this licked.  Any ideas?

I am having the exact same issue. We had it working for a number of weeks, then it stopped. We rebooted and it fixed it, then a few more weeks later it stopped again, then the reboot didnt fix it.

Looking at previous posts, could the cause of this be the number of roles we have in AD (including parents) and the number of roles in DNN? Does impersonation help ?

Does anyone have a solution to this, or ideas of what we can try?

It can be a combination of both. I'm currently working on a new version with code supplied by Stefan Cullmann that so far has sped things up amazingly. Hopefully this will take care of the timeouts (which is what stops the synchronization for happening). I need to do some more testing, etc before releasing a beta and I hope to have some time to roll it out in the next couple of weeks.
